Originally chartered in California, the Balboa & Granada Railroad's Board of Directors opted to relocate to the Northeast, and thus, amid much fanfare, the Balboa Granada & Eastern Railroad became located in the Cumberland Valley which includes the towns of Brunswick, Saxonville, Clear Spring, Oxford, Franklin Junction, and Beaver Creek. Stoner is where the BG&E interchanges cars with Central Vermont Railway, while Baxter is the location of an interchange with Maine Central Railroad on the eastern end of the BG&E.
