The fictitious Balboa Granada & Eastern (BG&E) handles coal, mixed freight, and passenger traffic primarily using steam locomotives. An interchange yard at Franklin Junction serves as a connection to the Boston & Maine, and a division yard at Brunswick is a main service and classification facility for BG&E. Through freight and passenger trains operate over the BG&E, while freight and mixed trains operate along the BG&E corridor.

  • Traffic is handled by an operating crew consisting of:
  • Dispatcher/Staging Operator
  • Brunswick Yardmaster w/switcher
  • Brunswick Hostler/Assist. Yardmaster
  • Franklin Jct. Yardmaster w/switcher
  • Train Engineers

Operating crew utilize hand-held cabs/throttles, while train operation is dependent on a passenger train schedule, and a car card/waybill program
